In everything we do, a foundation is built. You learn basic ball-handling in sports, language and mathematic skill in education... It's a long list, and universal. In everything, there are base functions that must be learned and consistently employed.

For the thing(s) you wish to master, it becomes especially important. We can be tempted to do things in our own way, disregarding how helpful a routine can be...which leads us to reinvent the wheel, with less than perfect results. 

Maybe this happens because we've convinced ourselves that we already know what we're doing and can do it better. More often than not, the simplest way is the best.  Take care of the details, and you can bring your flourish to the polished stage of your product.
