It's been a while...

and it'll be a while after this post before I write again. Boss is heading out on vacation, and I handle sports all week. It'll be a fun challenge.

Anyway... 

This photo crossed my social feed, and it made me think.

In the media industry, you need experience. To get experience... You have to have experience... 

It's a confusing cycle, and one that's harder to break into once you leave college. 

Even in college, you best bet is to, quite literally, fool or strongarm someone into giving you a shot. You may have talent and promise, but that goes so far.

For my first sports internship at a local TV station, the sports director didn't remember agreeing to give me an internship. In response, I ran the man down in the station parking lot and persuaded him to let me have it. He was impressed that I had the balls to do that, and the rest is history.
